Jackie Clifford

Associate

Jackie has worked in Learning and Development for over 30 years. Following a degree in Biochemistry, she started her career in retail and sales, then moved into HR and finally L&D. She specialises in supporting technical specialists to move into people management roles using a range of development methods, including coaching and providing bespoke workshops and longer blended development programmes. As the co-author of three books published by Kogan Page relating to L&D, an area of special interest to Jackie is helping others to develop their coaching and training skills.  She is a columnist for TrainingZone and a judge for the Culture Pioneer Awards.

Jackie has a long association with the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), having been a local volunteer and Group Chair, a tutor on CIPD programmes at levels 3, 5 and 7 and an associate trainer on a range of programmes.

Jackie’s style is facilitative and experiential. Her approach is client- and learner-centred and whether designing or delivering development activities, she will always start with the end in mind focussing on the desired organisational, team and individual outcomes.

In recent years Jackie has worked with organisations in the private, public and not-for-profit sectors. Projects have included:

  • Design and delivery of mentoring skills programmes to support the delivery of in-house qualifications for a non-departmental public body.
  • Design and delivery of a leadership development programme for managers in the energy sector.
  • Design and delivery of a management development programme for cohorts of managers in the healthcare sector.
  • Design and delivery of a range of employee and management development programmes for a national charity.
  • Design and delivery of a number of workshops as part of the staff development programme for a Higher Education Institution.
  • Providing coaching for individuals from director to aspriing manager level in a range of different organisations.

Jackie is passionate about learning and committed to her own professional development. She participates in a range of communities and programmes to ensure that she is fully up-to-date on both the latest thinking around learning and development and on leadership, management and aspects of personal / career development.
